The desk once ran four notes apps at once. Ideas scattered; search failed. We forced everything into a single application, and kept three rules.
One: drafts, interview outlines, and shopping lists all land in the same inbox. Two: ten minutes each evening for tags — subject, person, to-do. Three: once a month, archive what is finished. Do not delete it. Move it into a Done library.
Search matters more than folders. Write titles as sentences you could find later — “early-autumn layering draft,” not “Untitled.”
When you stop asking where you put a thought, attention can return to the writing.
